MIDDLE EASTERN WOMEN'S COALITION CALLS ON CONGRESSWOMAN ILHAN OMAR TO RESIGN
For Immediate Release
March 4th, 2019
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 23, 2019 - The Middle Eastern Women's Coalition will hold a press conference on Capitol Hill with Lt Col Tony Shaffer (retired) on March 6th at 8 AM to urgently call on Congresswoman Ilhan Omar to resign, for using her platform to push forward anti-Semitic rhetoric, promote sharia law and sympathize with terrorists.
In the past few months Representative Omar has come under fire from both Democrat and Republican House leadership, condemning her many anti-semitic remarks. Her most recent slurs being “Israel is hypmotizing the world” and implying politicians are bought off by Jewish interests and being “all about the Benjamins.”
Representative Omar has a history of sympathizing with terrorists. In 2015 she defended six Somalians attempting to join ISIS, the deadliest terrorist group in the world. In 2016 she asked a federal judge for leniency against a Minnesota man who pledged his allegiance to ISIS. One of the more recent incidents was Congresswoman Omar being announced as the keynote speaker to an upcoming event for Islamic Relief USA . Also on the flyer and schedule to speak was Yousef Abdullah. Abdullah has publicly stated “martyrs” who provide weapons to kill Jews are “beautiful.” Congresswoman Omar and her press team have denied they were aware Abdullah would be attending, despite the fact that they were both on a flyer marketing the event.
Given these discloses, both media and government officials need to address this national security issue by holding Representative Omar accountable. Omar's sympathy for terrorists and hate fillled remarks have no place in the United States government.
The Middle Eastern Women's Coalition is nationally recognized for its efforts to fight Sharia Law, female genital mutilation, child marriages and honor killings in the Middle East and North African regions. March 6th, 2019 Lt Col Tony Shaffer (retired) and the MEWC board will hold a press conference at the Rayburn Building.
